Council apologises for the technical/sound recording issues that occured during the livestream of the General Committee Meeting on Monday 10 February 2020 and any inconvenience caused.
General Committee Meetings are held at 5.00pm on the 2nd Monday of each month in the Council Chambers. The General Committee is responsible for researching and making recommendations to Council and does so in consultation with senior management and the community. Council meetings are held at 5.00pm on the 4th Monday of each month in the Council Chambers (subject to change due to Public Holidays, see link at the end of this article for official list of meeting dates).
The council will hold a public forum at the commencement of each ordinary meeting of the council for the purpose of hearing oral submissions from members of the public on items of business to be considered at the meeting. Public forums may also be held prior at extraordinary council meetings and meetings of committees of the council.
Public forums are chaired by the Mayor or their nominee and each speaker is allowed five minutes to address the council. This time is strictly enforced by the chairperson. Speakers at public forums must not digress from the item on the agenda they are have chosen to address. If a speaker digresses to irrelevant matters, the chairperson is to direct the speaker not to do so. If a speaker fails to observe a direction from the chairperson, the speaker will not be further heard.
Please refer to the Public Forum Guidelines to make the most out of your presentation.
Public Forum commences at 5.00pm and concludes at 5.30pm when Council commences the part of the meeting dealing with reports and recommendations. These matters are then confirmed in the latter part of the meeting. For some confidential matters council retires "into committee" and the public is asked to leave the chambers. Councillors can also raise concerns they have or that have been brought to their attention by residents of the Shire. These are either put into action or referred to the relevant section of Council for determination.
