Current Council Services

Cowra Shire Council are committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, their families, our volunteers and our community. Council continue to take advice and guidance from NSW State Government (NSW Health) and the Federal Government (Department of Health) that are the lead agencies in relation to the management of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Stay-at-home orders are currently in place for all people in the Greater Sydney area until midnight on Friday 9th July 2021. If you have been to the Greater Sydney area (which includes the Central Coast, Blue Mountains and Wollongong), on or after June 21 you should follow stay-at-home orders for a period of 14 days after leaving Greater Sydney.

For all other parts of regional NSW, the following restrictions apply:

  • Visitors to households limited to 5 guests, including children
  • Dance and gym classes limited to 20 per class
  • Masks* compulsory in all indoor non-residential settings, including workplaces, gym classes and at organised outdoor events

Not allowed at indoor venues/ places of worship:

  • Singing by audiences/ congregation, choirs
  • Drinking while standing
  • Dancing, except at weddings for the wedding party only, max 20 people

Special Events:

  • One person per four square metre rule for all indoor and outdoor settings, including weddings and funerals
  • Outdoor seated ticketed events limited to 50% capacity

Council will ensure essential services continue to be delivered to our community including water, wastewater, garbage collection and ranger services. We are constantly reviewing our plans to make sure we are prepared for any situation. As this situation rapidly unfolds we may need to change, reduce or postpone services and events at short notice. If this happens, we will let you know.

With the easing of pandemic restrictions, Council is pleased to confirm new arrangements for community members to speak at Council and General Committee meetings. Residents are now able to have their say on topics listed on the agenda for that meeting either in person or by video link. Speakers are required to keep their statement to a limit of five minutes.

The MRF is open, but the second-hand store is closed with current restrictions until further notice.
