Mother of Millions Weed Alert- Wyangala Village

Residents of Wyangala Village and surrounding areas- Please be aware that several Mother of Millions (Bryophyllum spp) infestations have been detected in the Wyangala Village. 

Mother of Millions is extremely toxic to both humans and animals with the flowers being up to more than 5 times more toxic than the rest of the plant. It will cause heart failure with dogs being extremely susceptible.

It is identified in the Central Tablelands Strategic Weed Management Plan 2023-2027 as a Regional Objective- Eradication.

Regional Recommended Measure* (for Regional Priority - Eradication)

Land managers should mitigate the risk of the plant being introduced to their land. Land managers should eradicate the plant from the land and keep the land free of the plant. A person should not deal with the plant, where dealings include but are not limited to buying, selling, growing, moving, carrying or releasing the plant. Notify local control authority if found.

Cowra Council Biosecurity Officers will be inspecting residential gardens within the village from 1st July for the presence of Mother of Millions. Residents concerned they may have it are welcome to contact Cowra Council Biosecurity Officers to discuss control and disposal options.
