Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellows Return to Cowra Civic Centre

After a year of very little opportunity to perform, Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellows return to Cowra Civic Centre for a four day residency and public performance on Saturday 27 February at 2pm.

They will present a program entitled Bohemian Rhapsodies performing music by Johann Stamitz and Anton Reicha (contemporaries of Mozart and Beethoven) and the sunny masterpiece that is Dvorak's 'American' String Quintet. The program is just some of the rich and colourful gems from the former land of Bohemia, home to one of Europe's most dazzling musical cultures.

"We are delighted to welcome the Fellows back," said Jonathan Llewellyn, Manager of Cowra Civic Centre. "We understand that their performance in Cowra last year was one of the only opportunities they had to perform before venues everywhere were closed. We are thrilled to have them back to begin what should be a better year for their fellowship."

The Fellowship program is like an apprenticeship with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra selecting the very top young musicians from around Australia. They perform side-by-side with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in mainstage programs as well as concerts for schools and families.

The Fellows are under the leadership of Roger Benedict, Principal Viola player for Sydney Symphony Orchestra whose experience in the world of classical music has seen him perform all over the world and mentor young emerging musicians including the Australian Youth Orchestra, The European Union Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
