The Cowra Sculpture Park is an outdoor gallery, officially opened in June 2021 following the acquisition of a unique collection of public sculptures gifted by Macquarie University to Cowra Council. The Macquarie University Art Gallery and Cowra Regional Art Gallery have collaborated several times over the past 7 years on a diverse range of exhibition projects. The professional association of both galleries and Macquarie University’s support resulted in the gifting of the selected sculptures by leading Australian sculptors to Cowra with the aim they would be installed in the new Cowra Sculpture Park.
The donation by Macquarie University of these marvellous sculptures together with the existing sculptures provide a distinctive display of public art in the landscape of the Sculpture Park and also increases the richness of visitor’s experiences taken away from their visits.
