Help for local sporting groups to plan for the future

Cowra sporting organisations; do you want improved facilities, wish to apply for grants or want more members or volunteers on your committee? Then please join Council in an upcoming series of strategic planning workshops designed to assist your sporting group prepare development strategies to help you achieve your goals.

"Council wishes to support our local sports clubs to plan for the future. Organisations always have a wish-list and preparing a strategic plan is a very important way to work towards ticking off some of those items," said Mayor of Cowra, Cr Bill West.

Cr West noted several local sporting organisations have had success by designing and preparing for their next steps.

"While grant funding can never be guaranteed, having a solid strategic plan for your club's future development is the first step to improving your outcomes.

"Cowra Motorcycle Racing Club is an excellent example of an organisation with a well-prepared strategic plan. They were able to submit funding applications when opportunities arose because they had 'shovel-ready' plans," Cr West continued.

Held in conjunction with the Cowra Sport and Recreation Committee and the NSW Office of Sport, the workshops are open to all sporting organisations.

They will be held at Cowra Services Club on Wednesday 27 November at 6pm and Wednesday 18 December at 6pm. The workshops focus on separate areas of sport planning, making it essential to attend both for maximum benefit.
