With the opening of the Cowra Aquatic Centre this Saturday 29 September, Council will be launching a new safety initiative for children five years and under.
The Under 5 Keep'em Alive program will require parents and carers to put a red band on their toddlers upon entry into the Aquatic Centre, to provide both pool staff and parents with an extra visual tool when supervising young children.
"Council encourages parents and carers to participate in active parental supervision when visiting the pool this season," said General Manager, Mr Paul Devery.
"We encourage parents and adults to supervise and play with their children in the pool. The lifeguards are responsible for overall safety at the Aquatic Centre, but it is parents and carers who have the ultimate responsibility to supervise their children," Mr Devery said.
Aquatic Centre Manager, Kerry Lynch and his staff have been busy over winter with maintenance and painting, in anticipation for this Saturday's opening which will have free entry on the first day.
The giant inflatable obstacle course will be available again at various times over the weekends, along with inflatable rockers for hire for just $3 per half hour, including a special rocker called 'George' for children eight years and under
The swimming season at Cowra Aquatic Centre runs until the 7th April 2019.
