Recent Cowra Council approval for the proposed Cowra Nature-Based Adventure Playground is dependent on external funding for the project, Cowra Mayor, Councillor Bill West said.
Council approved the Master Plan for the project that investigated the feasibility of establishing an adventure playground in Cowra in the Bellevue Hill area.
"While we strongly support the proposal to establish the Adventure Playground in the 'billy-goat hill' area, further development of the proposal is dependent upon grant funding for this wonderful idea, something that Council has made clear from the outset," Cr West said.
The proposal is to create a nature-based playground with many benefits to local children including for health and well-being, mental and physical development and gains in confidence and imagination through time spent in natural environments.
The Master Plan was created after more than 14 months hard work by the Cowra Nature-Based Adventure Playground Committee along with other stakeholders of the proposed site including the local Aboriginal Community and The Mid-Lachlan Landcare Group.
"Congratulations must go to the Cowra Nature-Based Adventure Playground Committee for the work they've put into getting the proposal to this stage, Council now looks forward working with the committee to see this proposal to fruition," Cr West concluded.
